Training Methodolgy

Our team of coaches have developed a world class training methodology that caters to the needs of each individual athlete. Using their vast experience and the most up-to-date training technology, our athletes experience noticeable improvement in a very short period of time.

By individualizing a specific developmental plan for each student we are able to maximize athlete performance in training and match play. A personal file is created and updated continuously with videos, spectrums, catalogs, and ball flight data (TrackMan); all geared toward improving the basics: controlling low point (hit the ground in front of the ball), distance (hit the ball far enough to compete at highest level), and predictable curve (control shape of shot). Other areas of focus will include the ins and outs of course management, tournament preparation and play (yearly schedule for each player), practice rounds/routines, learn how to use the “Grid System” to play consistent, short game habits, putting repetition and constant reinforcement of the rules of the game.

Testing/Evaluation

To enhance performance every student is individually evaluated during their stay. Tests can include; putting, chipping, sand, pitch/finesse shots, Trackman combine and a Trackman wedge combine. The results are graded and then a practice schedule is tailored specifically for the areas needing improvement. If a student does well on all tests then the level of testing will increase (testing levels scale from 1 to 5, 1 being the easiest). Results are collected and given to students at the end their stay, with some exception.

Technology

Club Med golf academy features many high tech training systems including; Trackman, SAM PuttLab,K-Vest, V1 swing analysis, BodiTrak and Casio high speed cameras. The technology we use at this academy is the same technology used by players on both the PGA and LPGA tours.

Mind Performance

History has shown time and again that a player with a strong mental and emotional approach to the game will almost always outperform a player with equal physical talent but less mental training and skill. The ability of a player to stay focused and calm in the face of pressure and adversity is what separates true champions from the rest.

As coaches, we remain strongly committed to working on each student’s mental and emotional development – what we call the mind game – every single day. If anything, the clarity that comes from a solid mind game could be considered the most important skill we share, since no movement happens within the body that is not first generated within a confident or upset mind.

To facilitate mind game development, performance workshops are conducted throughout the academic year in which we share leading-edge techniques that blend mind skills with swing mechanics. Students have additional access to our new Peak Performance Mind Coach who specializes in helping them manage self-talk and emotions by accessing Zone-like states of performance time and again.

Our bottom line philosophy: Positive thoughts and emotions – the kind we learn to deliberately access and teach ourselves to think and feel – are imperative to each player’s performance and success. On-site peak performance coach Tim N. Kremer is our mind training coach and works with our players weekly.

Physical Performance

Academy training players must engage in a multi-day Fitness and Conditioning regimen that includes a variety of training modalities such as, aerobic and anaerobic development through sustained low intensity activities as well as short duration sprinting and flexibility exercises; not to mention overall strength training and nutritional awareness.

In addition, our students receive golf specific workouts some of which are adapted from the Titleist Performance Institute (TPi) to ensure they are strengthening the proper core muscles to help develop the most efficient and powerful golf swing.

Let’s not forget the brain however, with our Mental Performance program designed to help athletes maintain their focus and performance output, athletes can experience improved levels of performance in a relatively short period of time.
